Five Chicago neighborhoods ranked among the best for local entrepreneurs to set up shop, according to Yelp’s Local Economic Outlook report. Bucktown (No. 11), Lincoln Park (No. 15), Andersonville (No. 26), Near North Side (No. 28), and West Lawn (No. 47) all made the list for the top 50 neighborhoods where local businesses have the best chance of success. Chicago as a whole ranked as the No. 38 spot for cities with positive economic growth.

The Yelp Economic Outlook program launched earlier this month in effort to help track the communities in America are ripe for economic development. Coming in the No. 1 spot was Stonestown in San Francisco.

The study considered business categories such as restaurants, nightlife, beauty and spas, event planning and services, health and medical, automotive, food, shopping, home services, and active life business categories.

The report comes from Yelp data collected since 2004 from 135 million consumer reviews. The data amassed includes consideration of business openings, consumer trends, and business details. In order to produce the report, Yelp created an opportunity score based on change in opportunity compared with the previous year’s data.

The report took into consideration a business's location, category and more. The rankings were based on data from the third quarter of 2017, between July and September, compared with the same time frame in 2016.
