Given that most of the parents here who are complaining about discipline have horrible grammar and spelling mistakes, perhaps their teachers should have been a little more strict with them.

I love Actis, I went there when i was a child. the staff is only preparing the children for "the real world" these days. So what if they get detention. You dont get rewards for owing money, or being disrespectful at your job do you? Keep up the good work! I love the vice principal and principal too by the way! Great job staff!

Strict policies are good when there is behavioral problem with a student. However, at Actis children are pulled out of class on a daily basis and threatened with detention for having a $2.50 lunch balance. I think that it's ridiculous and discouraging to good students who may have financial struggles. Additionally, when a Math teacher has most of the students failing, transferring or leaving her class room the problem may not be the students but the manner in which they are taught. There are definitely some great teachers here and for the most part an average school.

This is my child's second year at Actis. This is by far the most strict school I have ever come across. I understand the need for strong disapline, but I think this school over does it on the minor infractions. Detensions are given out for everything. Suspensions are dealt way too often. On the up side, they do have some amazing History and Science Teachers. You just have know which teachers to fight for.
