Rancho Rosal Elementary School

The school is not what I expected. Coming from Tennessee and Florida, I thought the schools here would be better. I was sadly mistaken. My child had licensed/credentialed teachers in Music, Art, Library, Physical Education, and in Tennessee – Technology. These are the favorites. My child received none of those actual classes at this school. They make you think students are receiving these subjects within their classrooms but they do not. For Music, the kids sang a couple of songs for Veteran’s Day. That is not Music Education. For Physical Education, they had the YMCA come and “do” PE. These people are unqualified and unlicensed. Upon research, I found this goes against education code law!!! I guess they thought they would have these unqualified people come in, pay them $15/hr and the Y could make some money off the school! My child hated it! Seems like this school district in general doesn’t believe in teaching the whole child. I can’t believe Tennessee and Florida seem to be more ahead of the schools here. My child liked the friends made here but says the teachers back in Tennessee and Florida were better than at this school. And homework? The teachers don't have to give any so they don't. You can ask for it, even 5 minutes, but they just tell you to go some website. So much for parent involvement. Seems they only want that when they are fundraising. Just disappointed.

This school doesn't know how to deal with bullying, they believe there is no need to notify parent as telling the bad kids to stop will solve the problem. Teachers will give out the same practice package three times in a day to 'help' student preparing the test tomorrow. For those already understand the lesson, this is a punishment. For those doesn't understand the lesson, if they can 'remember' the answer in the practice package, they will get good grade as well.

Rancho Rosal is a Great School With Great Teachers & Staff! This is the third year my kids have attended and we have been very happy with this school! There is also high parent involvement which also brings us all together in our Community! My children love going to school and learning as it is a very positive caring environment for our children! My son's teacher was outstanding! She found a way to bond with him and make him want to do his best in her class. I wish I could be as enthusiastic about other factors at the school, but I cannot. : (
