Carl Sundahl is a great, small elementary school where the kids get to know each other quickly. The teachers are helpful and the principal is easy to talk to and cares about the students. Very good parent participation as well.

We loved the Montessori program last year but we feel this year has been disappointing. The new teacher does not have AMI training and while the classroom is beautiful, the students are bored and she does little to inspire them. The new principal at the school is excellent and will hopefully work to improve the upper grade Montessori class in the future, but we feel our two children (grades 1 and 3) have lost a year academically in the current Montessori program, so we are returning to our traditional neighborhood school. Carl Sundahl as a whole is a welcoming, friendly school with lots of great activities: art classes, school play, dance festival, running club, etc. We will miss it.

If you have children that are well behaved, then DO NOT let them transfer here. I was a student here, and Carl Sundahl were my worst years. Only some teachers are pleasant and encouraging, but the problem here is, it's the rest of the staff that are rather ignorant and obnoxious, all they care about is the kids "talking" while they're talking (ok, I get it. They're trying to teach students polite manners, but the staff weren't forceful enough about it. The students just keep talking, not caring about the negativity between them and the staff). This school isn't fit for behavioral lessons. Although, the school is good for when your kids want to get hands on something, because they do offer science projects occasionally. I was never a troublemaker back then, but I just feel that the kids in my generation are still misbehaving a bit due to poor behavioral lectures back in their days. It was a good school, but I just hated being there. I am much happier in middle and high school.

My daughter is a second grader in Miss Laricks class. Miss Larick is truely a rare and special find. My girl has gone from below grade level in reading to at or above with a new confidence and joy for learning. We are so grateful to Miss Larick for the love and devotion to learning she has instilled in our child along with team building and social skills! We are thrilled!
