I am highly disappointed in this school. Over the past 10-15 years, the school had declined rapidly. Most recently, the morale of the students, the lack of unity between the staff, teachers and administration, the decrease in availability of quality classes and the increase of vaping has become detrimental to this community. It would be best for this school to be taken over by a more qualified school board.

Small town schools have their advantages and disadvantages. I wish the high school, which is a separate district, had the heart and consistency that the Julian Elementary School District had. My family’s educational opportunity thrived there. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the high school. Constant staff changing, especially administrative, revolving door of teachers, included those not credentialed, teaching AP classes, basic choices for academics and not much variety with electives, and the Academic Counselor is not confidential and has ego issues. If you hope your child gets swept under the rug and flys under the radar, this may be the school for you. If you want your child to have a competitive and supportive high school experience that will prepare them for college, chose another school. I wish I knew what I know now. However, I only saw the truth the senior year of my last child.

I love this school for these reasons: A. Adminstration. Loving and caring office and superindendent. They are on top if things and they care and know each student. A bene if a small rural high school with class. B. The teachers! If you want an education that prepared you for college its here! And the ability to earn scholarships is amazing! The teachers are top notch with small class sizes. C. The campus. So pretty and part of the little town of Julian. Students can walk everywhere. D. Opportunities to stand out. Easy to see your student if they work to stand out academically or athletically. Volunteerism. Ample opportunities here.
