Leucadia has multiple modes of public transportation. The North County Transit District and Metropolitan Transit System provide bus and rail transit services that allow for travel throughout Encinitas and Leucadia. Running north and south is Interstate 5, which cuts through Leucadia and connects to other major freeways like Interstate 805 and Highway 56 as well as surrounding cities like San Diego, Carlsbad, and Oceanside.
Leucadia is served by the Encinitas Union School District and the San Dieguito Union High School District. With a total of two preschools, nine elementary schools, five middle schools, and five high schools, Leucadia students have access to numerous public education options, a large percentage of which boast above-average rankings.
Leucadia’s three secluded beaches—Grandview, Beacon’s, and Stone Steps— are its most popular attractions. These beaches offer plenty of outdoor and aquatic recreational activities like surfing, swimming, and sunbathing. Leucadia is also home to local events like Taste of Leucadia, LeucadiArt Walk, music festivals, food festivals, and farmers markets. Encinitas Ranch Golf Course is another well-known attraction, which features an 18-hole championship golf course, a driving range, a 6,00 square-foot clubhouse, and pro shop. Additionally, Legoland California in Carlsbad is just a quick 15-minute drive away from Leucadia.
