I have not graduated yet, and I hope there is a lot of change here before I do. I love this school and some of the people here, but that does not forgive where the administration has failed.

horrible, inefficient, bully supporting, can't protect students

I think the teachers really want the kids to do well- they give them feedback when possible and they are made to feel they can talk to them about any issues. The Principal is in touch with the kids and is super approachable, has sent her kids to the school one of which got into Stanford, and greets kids outside the school. It feels like they are working as a team.

The school tried hard but it wasn't the right fit for my kid, who needs more guidance and individualized attention. If your kid is self-sufficient, he or she will do fine here. But if your kid needs reminders and guidance, he will not. They just have too many kids for that. I must give a shout-out to a GEM of a teacher here: Eric Jacobsen, who is the tennis coach and also teaches a class in Psychology. He is absolutely amazing - the kind of teacher they make movies about! If your kid is interested in tennis, you're lucky because Eric is the best thing about this school. He's super dedicated to the kids but he's also "cool" and they admire and respect him. He's reached the perfect balance between being understanding and kind -- but also setting high expectations. He works with each of the kids and cares deeply about them in all ways - makes sure they're keeping up with school work and not just playing tennis. I can't say enough about him; he's really a treasure.
