Loma Vista Elementary School

As a mother I could say is a good school. They help my daughter a lot to improve her learning skills

Terrible school. My kid was the only kid in his entire class who spoke English. It was like they had just received a new shipment of kids from south of the border. There is no homework and my kid got lice twice. I had my kid here for a year and then I started working two jobs to put him in private school. The LAUSD is a joke. I can only tell you I was the only sober parent picking up their kid from here. The teachers are burned out from the 3rd world populace and I don't blame them. I'm only glad I got my kid out in time.

I do love loma vista but as a parent i wud like to see more parent participation but the school allows lil to none. As of helping prepare things for certain occasions. The parent room should be allowed to stay open throu the day. My experience from in the parent room from last year wasnt any good to me we could have been doing more. But since our school is on a budget they cannot have someone stay thru the day not even a volunteer. Thia year i refuse to waste my time doing nothing in a room where parents gossip all morning. That is not productive i rather do somethings that would benefit our school and children. I wud also like to see more fundrasing that wud give profits to the school. But i was told they cannot do thatno budget. And for kinder they dont even have a day to acknowledge there work and have a mini celebration because of lack of funds . The teachers do care but there can be more improvements to get more parents involved in the school.

I would probably not be posting this had I not received notification of a prior review. I am sad because these reviews are important yet we stay quiet. I cannot say enough of Loma Vista. I have 7 children all of whom attended this great school. My last child just culminated to middle school with honors on June 7, 2013. Everyone knows everyone. When I hear my daughter speak of the principal as if they were friends and see how she (the principal) interacts with the students is great. Everyone I've dealt with staff wise has been great. If there is a lack of parent participation that in no way should be against Loma Vista. Teachers and staff are doing what they need to be to make sure our children are safe and getting a good education. I cannot say enough of the after-school program. My kids have been involved in all sports possible, even running marathons without any cost to me. Loma Vista excels in working with the students and in making sure they are there to learn. I say if you need more parent participation make sure you emphasize that during your parent-conference meetings. With that said Thank you Loma Vista for helping me raise and educate all 7 of my children.
