West Oakland Middle School

My son is a seventh grader at WOMS - it’s his second year there. We love this school! Mr Parikh teaches Computer Science and now my kid is editing videos for Prescott Elementary School as an alumni. Dr. Vlad has inspired my son to try high level math. Principal Ummat is a young, dedicated administrator at the helm. A great neighborhood middle school. Thanks to everyone working there!@

This school is small, which means that all the adults know all of the students. Kids feel cared for, and teachers get in touch with parents when they see that a student may need help. Our kids love the library, computer science classes, and playing music in the band. Distance learning is different, but the community still feels connected.

I wouldn't send my dog for obedience training at this school. There are some good teachers there but the main emphasis at the school seems to be making it look good and wearing uniforms. WHICH they NEVER have available for the students unless you order them MONTHS in advance. The Vice Principle does not act like he wants to be the vice principal and I have seen NO improvement to the school in the past 2 years...but a lot of cutbacks for overspending. When did schools stop worrying about education. YES this school has a 1 out of 10 for a reason...someone was being nice! It should have a 0 because the entire staff seems to be incompetent for the jobs they do...with exception of 3 teachers.
