Buena Vista Elementary School

This school is a good school but the teachers that work there think you owe them something. If you don't like your job then quit nobody is making you stay. My son has been going there for 3 years now he's in the 3rd grade now. The teacher he has seem to not care won't give you any information on how your child is doing until it's almost for them to say the best thing to do is held the kid back. When you should have been communicating the issues about their child long time ago. They say they help the kids but really don't & I know that they are just one person but don't say you will help the kid but you can't. Then when they send these so called weekly report having stars & circles does not tell you about how your child is doing your child can be failing & have all stars. I would prefer saying some of these teacher need to give up teaching because it seems like it's not for the because you don't know how to inform parents about their kids.

My expericen at Buena Vista for my past 5 years have been great as far as parent involvement. I have never had any problems with getting information in how to get more involeved with my children education. When I have any issues the teachers have always been pretty quick to contact me back to meet with them to discuss my childrens struggles. My issue with this school is that there are teachers that my kids have had that dont issue enough homework or any type of research were they can challange there minds and keep busy at home!!! I am soo against that..... these teaches need to provide more educational project to do at home or more homework!!!! I dont like the fact that when they finish class work/ homework in class , there left with nothing to do at home!!!!! Buena Vista teachers need to improve that with there students. Other than that I do like the school even though they are low in standards and need to improve there teachers!!!

I think this is a nice school in a great location! However, I have noticed in my past k-5 years that there are some pretty terrible teachers at this school. If your child is a gate student or an EL student they should do fine, if not they will be invisible and fall through the cracks. These teachers work a 160something days a year and most do not like to give their struggling students any real extra attention. I have also noticed that the Village teachers are really quite snoody, I don't know if they think they are just above everyone else at the school or if they are that way in their everyday life to everyone but it is very ugly... you are not a celebrity for goodness sakes!! I stay at this school because I don't want to shuffle my son around and have him start a new school not knowing anyone but I have to say I am NOT IMPRESSED!!! From a parent that is involved, never misses school, and always turns in all homework and asignments. I give it a 2 star rating istead of 1 because I feel my son is in a safe environment:( Such a shame... can't get these years or this experience back.

My son is a student at Buena Vista for three yrs now and I love the school I'm not involved with the school cuz I work a lot but I am involved with my childrens education Parents are kids first teachers and school their second so if there is an issue with ur Childs school then GET Active. I wish Palmdale School District did offer some sort of after school program Overall I am Happy with my Childs education
