There were nice experiences with some teachers and these teachers get burned out. But overall, not a good education if you need help from teachers and you end up in real trouble for high school. It's very easy to fall behind in a few weeks and you will not catch up all year.

3 principals in 3 years meant complete chaos, with the principals declining in competence with each hire. The latest/current principal is an ignorant, unexperienced, arrogant wicked witch who loves to smirk and condescend - both to students and to parents. Staff seem to live in fear of this woman. The school caters only to children who are inside-the-box -- the more traditionally popular and straight-A the kid, the better. Students with learning differences will find no support unless they are so low-functioning that the school has an excuse to separate them into their own classes. Cruelty runs amok amongst the student body -- theft and destruction of personal property is an everyday occurrence; kids whose lockers are decorated for their birthdays can't expect those decorations to last more than a couple hours before they are torn down and taken, either by staff or by students. Bullying is a common occurrence -- including of course by the principal. Middle school always has been considered the weak link of the Palo Alto public schools, and even though the school board and district claim they are working on it, they never do. As more and more kids get packed into Jordan (and JLS), fewer resources are available. Kids go unknown by any caring adult during the most important transition of their lives. I deeply regret sending my daughter to this terrible school; I hope some day she will forgive me for my ignorance in believing the hype.
The homework center system is terrible. My child has been kicked out for no reason and banned from homework center for accidently speaking out loud.

Best elective offerings in the State. Gives my children a chance to experience actual life learning like cooking and real industrial arts! Things that most districts dropped to replace with computers. Kids actually apply the knowledge taught in academics. Take advantage of the specialized electives. Kids can take their foreign language and fine arts in high school where it counts for college. Your children will never get this opportunity again.
