The office staff are mostly kind and friendly, with the exception of one. Maggie is very disrespectful and unprofessional. My child has been going to railway elementary since kindergarten and I've had numerous unpleasant and downright disrespectful interactions with her. She's rude, both to parents and the children. She snaps answers at you and behaves as if she's terribly put out by helping you or answering a very basic question. I've tried to avoid any interaction with her because of how unpleasant it is. I don't understand why they would have such a unprofessional and rude person be the one to deal with people on a daily basis. She must be excellent at paper work because her interpersonal skills are deeply lacking. I'm very disappointed that even though I'm by far not the only one who feels this way, she has not had consequences for her inappropriate and disrespectful behavior. This is not the impression you want to give about your school and having her in the front office, dealing with parents and children so inappropriately is a poor reflection of the school and its facilitators.

Traffic is terrible and there is a strict policy of closing the parking lot during drop off times keeping parents from being able to access the handicap spaces. The volunteer cross guards park illegally in the red zone leaving their small children alone in their car which is a risk to their families and the children they are supposed to be protecting in the cross walk. A majority of the students can not speak English. I attended a book reading and two of the children in the classroom could not comprehend me asking their name. A lady sitting next to me had to ask them in Spanish. The class rooms are over crowded keeping teachers from being able to do their jobs and even notice there are learning disabilities. The pre k 4 year olds are expected to go to an outside restroom with zero supervision. The teachers walk around looking exhausted and afraid of losing their jobs. I was told by one that they wished they could tell all the parents to take their kids and find another school and or district but was afraid to lose his job.

Morning traffic is terrible. The teachers are nice. But you gotta be on them to report any injuries to you right away.
