This school has a very hostile culture; there are lots of fights and bullying. My bright child was very bored and didn't learn much. A few great teachers in the mix, but not enough to overcome widespread academic apathy.

So far amazing! Maybe things have changed since a few of the issues mentioned by others. Our conflict was addressed within two weeks, and all involved have moved on. Priceless! PHMS offers plenty of help for any student that needs it, after school student tutors...free tue/thur. On line or home extra credit for that push if needed or wanted. They have an excellent staff from A-Z. I rate PHMS very highly!

School counselor tells us as visitors about a attempted cyber bullying case quote "just two days ago". Student takes picture or another student and threatens to put it on facebook. Instead of addressing it as what it is a minor case but still bullying the counselor defends the bully (meant no harm) praises the parents ("very engaged") and all this just to make her point:That our child needs to be mentally ready for "something like this" at this middle school (which the bullied person in this case was not because it made something like a big fuzz (those were not the words but the impression we got). Our child didn't see it as a problem, it just said I tell my parents, and right it is ... the parents ask the school district to take action against this counselor, and in order to make sure something happens, this time publicly !

I give it 4 and a half stars because of the bullying. There are quite a few bullies in the school, and sometimes the school doesn't do anything about it, except for give the bullies lunch detentions, and tell them not to do it again. Its pretty much like a two year old did it. Thats the only thing that i'm disappointed about. But, GO RAMS!
