Washington Elementary School

The school just reopened this year, with a beautiful renovated campus and all new administration, teachers, and staff. My daughter loves going to school every morning and is so comfortable there. We love the overall team spirit of the whole community, the big green space and playground the kids get to use (the park is closed off entirely from the public during school hours), and the proximity to downtown/midtown. Being the first year, there are not many community traditions, but part of the fun of a new school is getting to help shape it.

We couldn't be happier with Washington! Our boy (who'd had a super negative experience at a previous school) LOVES the STEAM focus as well as the learning model (Project Based Learning). Great teacher (Ms. Hankard), great principal (Dr. Godina).

We moved our children to Washington when they reopened this year and have had a great experience. The academics and social dynamics are progressive and inclusive. Can't say enough good things about the teachers and the after school program as well.

All of the previous reviews are about the former Washington Elementary, before it was closed and reopened with new staff a new focus (STEAM school). The reopened school is an amazing asset for families that work and live in downtown/midtown. The administration is accessible and dedicated and the teachers all chose to work at the school because they believe in project-based learning and the STEAM program. We are almost finished with our first year now, and while there have been some kinks to work out as a new school, we are already well on our way to becoming one of Sacramento's great schools.
