John Muir Elementary School

John Muir Elementary is a class act. We couldn't be happier with our children's education at John Muir. The teachers, academics, facilities, fellow students, and parents have always been supportive and welcoming. The school has an inclusive culture and really cares about these kids. Our children are not only getting the best public education possible, they're making memories to last a lifetime.

My child was physically shaken by her kindergarten teacher. Other parents have reported the same types of experiences happening in this classroom. All have reported it and nothing has been done.

My son's 2nd grade teacher did not take the time to understand his needs and style of learning. My son lost his self esteem and told me he hates himself and doesn't want to live anymore. She would put him down, over discipline and send him to principle's office, who told us we need to put him on meds. The reason why this is all outrageous is because he never had these issues with any other teachers in previous grades and schools. The following year (3rd grade in a different school) my son was completely different. He didn't have any of those issues. Imagine if I followed their advise and put him on meds.

I've had 6 years of experience with this school. The teachers and principal are outstanding! In spite of major budget difficulties and too large class sizes, the teachers are enthusiastic and diligent in teaching each and every child according to their individual needs. I've been constantly in awe of each of the teachers my three children have had. I have nothing, but praise for this school.
