Children learn what they see (not what they hear). I don't like the Principal because his words do not match his actions. Just my two cents.

Sunshine Gardens needs a lot of work to get back to the stellar school it once was. This was not the fault of the Teachers but the past Principal who failed in every way possible. She took away Bully Busters, Student Council, never disciplined the bad kids and let them get away with it and some kids who bullied staff never got disciplined either. Seems to be lacking things for children who are ahead in school. They are the ones who suffer and stuck waiting for the poor kids that are way behind. There should always be one class for every grade for kids who are ahead. Makes it fair for the ones to get farther and their education more fulfilling. The kids who are behind get the attention they need in and get caught up. Hoping the new Principal with pull us from under the rubble and make Sunshine Gardens stellar again. Would like to see more teachers added so the kids aren't cramped with 38 students to one teacher for 4th and 5th grade. Learning will be impossible with this many kids. Keeping fingers crossed. And it is true that if you're a Caucasian family, you will be given less opportunity and less attention.

This is a great neighborhood school! My daughter knows many of the teachers, greets the principal every morning and feels welcome. The events offer parents opportunity to connect, school spirit days are celebrated by staff and students, and the strong commitment to the education of young children make Sunshine Gardens Elementary a solid neighborhood school!

This is my child's home away from home. She feels safe and loved at Sunshine Gardens.
