The teachers are not passionate about their jobs and constantly complain about how much they hate their jobs; They teach because they have to, not because they want to. After teaching ineffectively, they assign loads of busy-work. Instead of analyzing and trying to understand the work, I'm rather stressed about turning in the work on time. The people here are not genuine whatsoever and very two-faced. They'll only be friends with you if they get something in return, whether if it's social status or answers for homework. If you aren't like them, you won't be accepted into the friend group. The campus is rather large but some buildings are sort of worn out and old. However, the new gym and track are very nice. Some sports are pretty good, wrestling and basketball are D1. Wresting and cheer recently won CIF in 2020, wresting going back to back. As a whole, I rate this school a 4 out of 10. If you can, avoid any school in the Orange Unified School District and look into the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District. Education there is great (Valencia has an IB program, similar to AP), sports are pretty good (Yorba Linda HS has good football, El Dorado has many great sports, Esperanza has great wrestling), and the people there are very welcoming. However, if you HAVE TO go to school in OUSD, I'd recommend Canyon or VP.

I have pro's and con's to this school some things like the Spec Ed teachers are great but when a child has special needs and then has to take mainstream classes those teachers seem to think that tough love is the way to deal with a SE student! what a joke! I have had to deal with this for the past 3 yrs and still seem like I am banging my head against the wall with the way they are not doing the IEP guidelines like since they are mainstream its not for them... Also with bullies and Admins just a joke..

My experience as a student was incredible. The teachers were amazing and my class mates were all respectful to one another

We heard good things about this school when we moved to Orange but it has not lived up to our expectations. The standards of science teaching needs to improve greatly. The teachers seems to be comfortable in their positions and are satisfied with making sure the district requirements are met but learning is a lot more than just satisfying minimum requirements. In Physics a lot of the learning was from youtube videos and video taped lectures from the teacher -- we could do that home why we need to go to school for that? In geometry, it was the 1st time for the teacher who struggled with the material himself and was quick to blame the students when they did poorly. The counselor could definitely do better than just making sure the schedule is correct -- counselors need to inspire students to strive harder and do their best to reach their potential. Just treating this job as a 8 - 4 office job that brings in a paycheck will not breed enthusiasm in students.
