Cambria Heights is a large neighborhood for the area, spanning ten city blocks in some areas. Distance from Cross Island Parkway, the local thoroughfare, is a priority for those looking for some semblance of quiet. Linden Boulevard cuts through the neighborhood and serves as a home to local businesses, which can make living nearby appealing. At large, Cambria Heights is residential with similar-looking homes spaced evenly apart. There is no real division within the neighborhood of a more desirable region.

Linden Boulevard is where residents can find a variety of restaurants in Cambria Heights. There is a high concentration of Jamaican and seafood restaurants, as well as classic fast-food chains. There aren’t many formal dining options in the neighborhood. Big box grocers supply the area and there is a local farmers market open every morning.

Three main streets—115th Avenue, Linden Avenue, and 121st Avenue— stretch across Cambria Heights. These are the homes to local businesses, while the streets connecting them are mostly residential. The neighborhood has a massive food shopping center, which is a draw for local residents as well as those nearby. It offers an impressive variety of groceries—representative of the diverse community in Cambria Heights.

Friday night in Cambria Heights is typically lowkey, thanks to the family-friendly atmosphere. There aren’t too many nightlife options in the neighborhood, but the feeling of welcoming the weekend is palpable, even if it’s just meeting friends for dinner and drinks. Some local favorites can be found along Linden Boulevard.

La P'tite Baguette Shop is the ideal stop to the beginning of a lazy Sunday in Cambria Heights. If a car is available, taking the 30-minute drive out to Long Beach can be a great way to spend the day. Clean beaches and plenty of dining options near the boardwalk are about an hour and a half away by train or bus. If you’re in the mood to keep things local, explore some of the local parks and playgrounds in the area for some outdoor recreation. If you want more greenspace, a 40-minute bus ride can get you to Idlewild Park, which offers acres of untouched nature.

Commuting into Manhattan, or out of Cambria Heights for that matter, isn’t an easy option. Taking the Q84 to the E and then walking to the 6 train takes about an hour and a half. Driving in isn’t much better, especially considering traffic. The only benefit to the location is a quick drive to JFK International Airport for catching flights. Locally, the Q4 and Q84 buses run pretty consistently.
