Residents have plenty of parks and playgrounds throughout Castlegate, some with picnic tables and shelters, which provide pleasant greenspaces for residents to enjoy. Homeowners can also remain active outdoors by playing at the tennis, basketball, or sand volleyball courts. There is also a covered playground where children can roam freely and have fun. In addition to these amenities, residents also have on-site schools to send their children. Located in the center of Castlegate is Kathryn Sue Simonton Elementary, which is one of seven schools in the J. O. Combs Unified School District. Despite being small, the school district is nationally recognized for its award-winning music and fine arts program as well as strong athletic programs.
