The cost of living in Claremont is significantly higher than the national average but about on a par with other communities in California. Home prices are on the high end but don’t generally exceed the million-dollar mark.

Commuters can reach Downtown San Diego in about 20 minutes via I-5, CA-163, or I-805. Buses pick up passengers on major thoroughfares like Genesee Avenue and Balboa Avenue. The community is fairly close to San Diego International Airport as well, about an 18-minute drive away.

Claremont is served by the San Diego Unified School District. Public education facilities in Clairemont include 12 elementary schools, two middle schools, two high schools and a community college. Five schools are also located in Clairemont with specialized educational programs. These schools are generally well rated, and the district implements a farm-to-school program to bring locally grown produce to meals at school.

Outdoor enthusiasts frequent the trails at Marian Bear Memorial Park and Tecolote Canyon Natural Park. Golfers appreciate the fantastic Riverwalk Golf Club. A short drive southwest, Mission Bay hosts plenty of great activities for a day off, including SeaWorld San Diego.
