Club Morningside

“Club Morningside” is a joke. This is a large chunk of townhouses built in the early 70’s. All properties are individually owned with some landlords owning 2 or more units. There are usually 7-19 boarded up properties at any given time. The largest unit is a 3bed 1 bath boasting 914 square feet OR LESS!!! They are also in a major water crisis as the only water company Aqua has recently (14 Jun 2019) put them and Green Gardens and Monee Township and all of UP under a “Do Not Consume Order”, meaning NO drinking of, preparing ice cubes, formula, or cooking with water etc. The majority of propertie/areas were released from said order, however, Morningside is NOT and is not expected to be released for a considerable amount of time. The pool down the street has been closed for 7-10 years. The pool here is closed and filled over with concrete. There is NO shopping except one family dollar and the speedway gas station. The DID put on new roofing and siding in the last several years, but you can slap lipstick on a pig, it’s still a pig. The area has recently shown some improvement with the cops only coming on average 1-2x a week whereas it used to be 7-15x a week. The neighbors are rude and a Gang has taken up residence in multiple abandoned/foreclosed/or unsold properties. The playground is a lawsuit waiting to happen, there is trash everywhere. There are “no dumping 500$ fine” signs in front of both dumpsters along with erected poles but NO cameras to catch anyone so people come from anywhere to dump their garbage. The Park is is assigned BUT not marked. Twice they’ve caught major felons including one on an arrest warrant for murder that was hiding in an attic. The neighbors have no concern for your ability to reside comfortably with music and firecrackers and yes even gunfire at all times of the night and day. This entire place including their plastic flowers, uprooted evergreen in front, deadly playground, cracked cement everywhere, lack of enforcing ANY rules unilaterally, the roach and mice problems, the boarded up units, gangs, etc. should just be bulldozed to the ground and let nature take it back! It doesn’t help that the only other set of units on your way to Morningside are the unfinished and bankrupted units that have been destroyed known as “CityScape”. Save your money, save your passion, and money for a neighborhood that will not continually cause you heal and heartache!
