Hartland School is a small, inclusive learning community and yet handles issues like bullying, learning differences and disabilities, ethics, safety, leadership, and academic excellence better than many larger schools. We've been very impressed with both the leadership and the teaching staff of the school. The facilities are excellent, class sizes very small, and community-building activities frequent and effective. The teachers are very consistent in using PowerSchool in the middle school grades so parents and students can track progress and find assignments easily. All middle school students (I can't speak to earlier grades' policies within the last few years) are given chrome books to use during the academic year, which we've found are much more effective than iPads (used at our previous school). Classrooms are spacious and well-maintained; science lab for middle school is surprisingly well-stocked for a small school. The environment is warm, safe, and welcoming. Middle school students have a daily study hall - either open or supported (for students with academic or learning challenges) - where they can complete much of their homework. Teachers are engaged and challenge students to the best of their abilities across all subjects. It's an exceptional school, and we are lucky to have our child attend.

My child hates the school. She doesn't want to be in it. She would rather be homeschooled.

This is a wonderful small K-8 school with a staff of very dedicated and experienced teachers where every student receives close individual attention and where there is an emphasis on academics, community, and above all on the children. Although it is small, the school has won many awards including a Blue Ribbon School Award and is one of the highest ranking schools in the state. Both of my children attended Hartland Elementary and had great experiences there.
