Very happy with Pearson School, its teachers, administrators and our new Superintendent!

Nothing but problems. Some of the teachers really try hard. Others not at all. Real shame. Needs severe improvements in special education.

Absolutely terrible. There is a new art club that only takes students by teacher invitation, without any explanation of what the criteria for admission is, giving the appearance of favoritism. As for band, ask some of the band parents whose kids didn't quit what happened last month. It was appalling. They took away the honor roll, which we found out by a note in the report card. The switched to an odd point system for grading writing that uses a number instead of a grade. They never asked for parent input about changes, just informed us after the fact with poorly written notes. The building is a dump. The focus is on teaching to tests, but parents are never told the results of the tests. My kid said there have been numerous evaluations, but I never get the results, which is unsettling. New administration treats parents like they are stupid and makes major decisions without parent input. Parents are put on the defensive rather than being a welcome contributor to their child's education. That is an outdated, authoritarian approach no school should take in this day and age. I am completely disappointed and I don't recommend Pearson at all.

Pearson School has excellent, dedicated teachers. They are the school's biggest asset. There is an opportunity for high achieving children to participate in an advanced math class, and children of all abilities are encouraged to do their best. Computer and science classes are challenging. There are class projects assigned that help students develop skills such as public speaking and working in groups. The teachers and principal communicate well with parents. Overall, the students are well behaved. Bullying is taken seriously so it does not get out of hand. My child participates in band, and there are after school activities as well. There is a lot of homework much of the time, but if your child does the work they are assigned and study like they are supposed to, they can do very well at this school. There are serious budget issues, and that is the biggest drawback of this school. I think more funds would make this good school an excellent one.
