Around Beach Haven
Where to Live
Like many neighborhoods on the Southside, Sans Pereil and Beach Haven contain a vibrant mixture of architecture. Subdivisions along Kernan Boulevard feature single-family homes with modern stucco features, and multi-family units popular amongst college students at the University of North Florida. Hodges and San Pablo have a few upscale waterfront subdivisions nestled within condo developments. All of these neighborhoods are within driving distance to numerous restaurants and bars.
Where to Eat
The University of North Florida offers multiple take-out options for students looking for a quick bite in-between classes. Beach Boulevard has tiny strip malls with sushi, seafood, and typical American eateries. Those with more discriminating taste can head “over the ditch,” as the locals say, to the Beaches for more elegant choices.
What You'll See

As such, there tends to be a younger clientele amongst the various establishments near campus. Try Beach Boulevard if you’re looking for more diverse, family-friendly places. Everything you need is within a ten-minute drive, though walking is not advised unless on campus.
Friday Night Fun
Students head to the clubs and bars near campus, seeking a weekend respite from the week’s studies. Head over to Beach Boulevard where you’ll find hookah lounges, dive bars, and family-owned eateries with varying diversity. For those looking for a low-key bar, there’s to plenty of neighborhood corner establishments to call their own.
The Perfect Sunday
Many of the smaller settlements have centrally located amenities that cater to the outdoor lifestyle of their homeowners. An afternoon at the pool or taking the kids to the playground is an option if you happen to live in one of these developments. The outdoor commons at UNF offer the public a chance to relax with a book.
