Shadowlawn Elementary School

Love this school. They have always made my kids feel so welcome. I have never once had any second guesses about my children's future or their safety.

It is a beautiful school BUT the administration is horrible when it comes to dealing with bullying. My boys transferred to Shadowlawn as 3rd and 4th graders. My 4th grader was treated horribly. Called names, pushed and tripped. He was hounded day after day for 3 weeks. After a dozen phone calls and THREE trips to the school in the attempt to meet with guidance counselors and principles, (which I was told each time that a last minute meeting was in progress and to make another appointment) I transferred my kids to schools in GCS

Two of my children attended Shadowlawn this year. One in fifth grade and the other first. I was very happy with my kids teachers and the activities they were engaged in. My son was recognized by test scores from another clay county school and they did not hesitate to farther his education and put him into gifted. That's exactly what our children need is to be challenged!!!! We are all very excited to return next year.

This school spends far too much time on practicing for the FCAT, using negative discipline procedures,ie. walking laps for recess, instead of addressing the actual problem, and using extrinsic motivators such as pizza, soda, and candy instead of instilling intrinsic motivators and values.
