We are very happy to have our daughter here

I went to Seminole for all three years of middle school. My main disagreement with this school is how they treat DECAL students compared to the average student. DECAL is their advanced program and it seems like students in this program have an unfair amount of better opportunities. In 7th grade, we were all required to take speech and debate. While not everyone loved it, the class was exceptional and taught key skills that everyone should have access to. If you go into the school, it becomes apparent that the majority of Black students are not in DECAL. They seem to do way worse academically and behaviorally. On the other hand in DECAL, there is a diverse set of students that have multiple high school classes within their schedule. Electives are great, and I highly recommend taking any of Ms. Phillip's, Mrs. Alford's, or Mr. Leipzig's classes. All in all, if you're in DECAL, this school is great. But if you're not, your experience is ruined and sabotaged. Seminole needs to fix their attitude towards Black students.

My daughter is a 7th grader at Seminole middle. She is in the decal program, which is a program designed for advanced students who need to keep certain GPA and clean conduct record. We are very happy with the school and the teachers. I have no problems communicating with any of them and as a matter of fact they all have webpages and or post the work that is due and communication on Edmodo. The pinnacle is always up to date, so there is no way not to know what is going on if you are an involved parent. My daughter is in various extra curricular activities and she loves the students and the teachers as well. If your child is a good student and have no conduct problems be sure that Seminole is a good choice... I forgot to mention that we feel this is a bully free school!
