In the span of 4 months the school has managed to have a teacher tell our child "Not my problem, deal with it yourself" in response to another child stealing fundraiser candy off of him. We had to pay out of our own pocket for the stolen candy while the school seems to have done nothing to the other student and NEVER responded to any of our attempts to contact them about it. We've also been trying to get our child into tutoring as he is struggling in one of his classes (he has an IEP and a learning disability), it took the school 3 months to even give us a form for tutoring. It's been almost a month and still no word as to when that will start! Also, at the beginning of the year we needed to figure out where his bus stop was and make sure he was even on the list so of course I was bounced around from office to office and sighed at when someone would realize that it was me again! The only positive thing that I can think of is that most of his teachers seem to care about the students. I would say the biggest problem with the school is the lack of respect that most students have which in turn leads to indifference in the administrative staff and in some of the teachers. As much as I've had issues with the office staff I believe that overexposure to disrespectful and unruly students has caused them to become jaded and apathetic. I would NOT recommend this school if you can avoid it, maybe the magnet program is better but as far as the regular school is concerned I will pass on sending any of my other children here.

The school is making many improvements over the last three years. The school went from a F to a C in two years when other middle schools drop or stay the same. The modified dress code calms the campus and gets the focus back on academics. I heard the school district comes and looks at the teachers to make sure they are improving. Obviously it works!
