Around Fort DuPont Park
The Fort DuPont Park area is comprised of Colonial-style single-family homes, duplexes, and bungalows. A selection of townhomes and apartments are also available. This residential area encircles two parks and features many older homes with beautifully-renovated interiors.
While a few restaurants are speckled throughout the area, a short Metro ride will take you into the Capitol Hill East region where restaurants and bars are no rarity. If looking to enjoy a particularly cozy night in, many locals enjoy the Caribbean-inspired or Thai food carry-out options available within Fort DuPont Park.
The neighborhood is home to a large population of younger singles who have arrived in recent years. You can find residents from all types of socio-economic backgrounds enjoying a quiet day at the park, tending to a community garden, or grabbing a drink at a nearby haunt.
Although the nightlife options in this residential area are limited, the outdoor leisure options are not. In the warmer months, check out what's going on at the Dupont Park Summer concert series at Dupont Park. There's also a movie series and Youth Baseball Academy facility in this 376-acre green space. D.C. United Stadium is located right across the river in case there's a game on.
Retail options are limited here so it's all about the outdoor space. Many runners and cyclists make use of the surrounding green space. There's also Dupont Park Ice Arena for a day of ice skating or perhaps even an ice hockey lesson if you're up for it. If you're looking for something for young children, be sure to see what community programs are available at the arena. On a warm afternoon, plan a picnic and rent a plot at one of the two parks or get athletic with a game of softball, basketball, or tennis.
