Hopewell Middle School

I see a lot of mixed reviews about this school and they make sense. I think Hopewell is a very strong school academically. If your kid did well in Elementary, she/she will be challenged in this school. They do a good preparation/transition from Elementary to High School. It is a wake up call for all kids. If your kid struggled in Elementary, it will be a very hard adjustment. Overall teachers do not care too much about students success, so your child is on its own. Other than that I think it is a good school.

Very disappointed in 8th grade accelerated math and 9th grade lit teachers. Math teacher does not care about the success of students taking high school level courses. If you do not pass, he assigns Edgenuity and allows the "computer teacher" to teach the standard. He never reteaches or works with students to ensure mastery, even the class averages are a 50 for summative test. Administration is aware of problems and does not address issues. Very disappointed. Fulton County can do better.

Administrators were lazy and didn't do their job correctly! Some teachers treated students differently because of their race. The front desk is very unhelpful. They are not effective and situations slide very easily. They ignore bigger situations and focus on small situations that shouldn't be dealt with.

I would have loved to give the school a 5 star rating, but every experience both I and my children have had with the front desk staff has been unpleasant.
