We moved from one of the top rated schools in the country to Cordele and it has been the best experience for me and my sons. The previous school was large - 3,000 plus students and everybody wanted to move to that end of the County and put their kids in that high school. Sure, they had great academic and sports programs. My boys are good students but their opportunities in sports at the old school were severely limited by volume of participants and popularity, etc. Before moving here I was hesitant because I saw these ratings for CCHS. Personal experience - and I am a hands on parent - proves this 3/10 is ABSOLUTELY NOT true. Crisp County is very small, everybody knows everybody so its easy to run into a teacher, parent or students at a local store, especially after Football. These kids only think we don't know what they are doing, LOL. Teachers DO use email to stay in touch and give you progress reports or alerts that grades may be affected if an assignment is not turned in by a certain date. The parents are engaged with how their kids are doing in school, we talk. The sports programs bring the entire town together. The alumni support the school. College recruiters only come for kids with good grades and the athletes at CCHS, no matter the sport, are heavily recruited to top rated schools. Athletics aside, one of my boys wants to be an engineer/attorney, the other a sports doctor and both are being prepared for those career paths with the correct classes. They are not the only ones who are college bound. Their 2018 graduation rate is 87% and I'm fairly certain 2019 will be even higher. This school has an amazing principal and support staff. When Hurricane Michael tore this county up in 2018 the HS kids that could, drove around checking on their friends' families. Kids that still had no electricity when school finally started back stayed with families who did. When a bus missed a few kids when school restarted, they where picked up by the football coach who was sent by the principal. Nope, not a lot to do here, go to a neighboring town for that, but sense of community is everything and it shows, in the schools, churches, stores, on the road, at local ER. What a student and parent TOGETHER put into their time at CCHS is what they will get out of it. Crisp County, it's schools and it's slower pace is one of the best kept secrets on I-75.

Being a student here taking honors and regular classes, this school is your average high school. The honors and AP classes are great! Teachers really care about us in those classes. In regular classes, its average. The students are different (I guess that's the appropriate term) but it depends on who you hang around. The school's band is the best in the school's district being that many students attended multiple honor bands, received all superiors in Large Group Performance Evaluation. The Chorus Program is good too, also the Art program is great too, they a lot of galleries the community can view. We have One Act and the performances are always great. Overall the entire Fine Arts program is one of the best in South Georgia. The sports program is great too, our Baseball team is great but the Football team is improving. I have high hopes for the upcoming Freshmen (the class of 2018). More importantly, the academia is great here! It all depends on your teacher. The Science Department is superb as well as the English, Math, and Social Sciences. If you're child attends here they will be exposed to different people and I am sure they will do good! Many programs here to be a part of! :)
