Overall, my child has been happy at VCMS. My child is a 6th grader and we switched from a Gwinnett County School system with an 8 rating during the first few months into the school year. There is a major socioeconomic difference between VCMS and my child's former school. As with the majority of schools in GA, parents are updated via emails as the first form of communication. The teachers were welcoming and my child adapted quickly. My child has no issues concerning the ItsLearning platform used for communication. Furthermore, my child does bring home written homework and completes online assignments. My child also informed me that the school also offers after school tutoring for those who require it. I have heard stories about nice kids and mean kids at this school just like any other school.

We were happy with VCES, but the wheels started coming off for us at VCMS. It's so large and overwhelming, it's amazing kids learn at all. There are no text books, either print or online, so it can be incredibly challenging as a parent to track student's progress and help review before tests. The ItsLearning platform which is used for communication and posting of assignments isn't great, and every teacher uses it differently, which is very confusing. Expect a learning curve on that. Plus, some teachers don't provide enough information on there, which is also frustrating. Most teachers use a combination of PowerPoint presentations and internet links to teach, which makes the classes a patchwork quilt of information that's hard to track. The environment is not supervised well -- AT ALL. Inappropriate (pornographic) conversation and bullying happen routinely. The students don't even try to disguise their behavior, because they know no adult will notice. Most students wear expensive clothing and have an elitist attitude, even though the area is mostly middle class to upper middle class. Aside from the negatives, the school is as well organized as possible for a huge school, and some of the teachers are hard-working and truly excellent.

What a terrible place. I was warned about avoiding West Forsyth due to a bad mix of parents, but the homes were cheaper. They were right, we messed up and sent 2 kids here. The students are mainly backwoods or “think they’re rich” and the kids act accordingly. The majority of the football team vapes and drinks an the some of those parents actually provide it for them! The kids are about the rudest we have encountered anywhere. Since most of the kids don’t accelerate in grades, the parents mostly focus on sports and that’s just a bad combination.

The entie West Forsyth area is full of rude kids and parents. The children think they are rich, but really they are lower middle class. The cheerleaders and football players are bullies. We had to move to another area of the county to get away from these people. The teachers are weak and the kids treat them without respect. Just a redneck area of the county.
