Growing up here is something I will always love and knowing I was going to this high school since I was in kindergarten makes it that much more special that I spent all 4 years of high school here.

We've had a very positive experience at FBHS. My daughter has adjusted very well being a new student coming from a different state. The teachers have been great and the students have been very nice. I don't have anything negative to say.

FBHS isn't as impressive as its faculty and students like to think it is. There are a TON of AP students, but almost none of them take the classes or their teachers seriously. And nearly every teacher just lets it slide or even plays along. The school idolizes its athletes (primarily the football team) at everyone else's expense. The predominantly white student body is full of racists, homophobes, etc. (when I was there, a group of students regularly marked restroom walls with swastikas, "white pride," "KKK," and slurs --- something I'd never seen at any of my previous schools even in Georgia) and most teachers lack the professionalism to at least conceal their own prejudices in dealing with students. A proposal to start a Gay-Straight Alliance was shot down by the administration as "grossly inappropriate." And, much like the town of Flowery Branch as a whole, the people there are almost invariably upper-middle class and they're very vocal about not associating with those of less fortunate circumstances.

The leadership in this school is awful. The AP's stick their head in the sand if there is a fight. Suspend the aggressor for 3-5 days and everything is swept under the rug. If you are black or an athletic student, you get away with anything and everything. Don't ever trust that they have your child's best interests at heart.
