While the city is not directly served by Atlanta’s MARTA public transportation system, the GRTA Xpress coach service connects Johns Creek commuters to the Doraville MARTA station, which provides access to downtown Atlanta on the Gold MARTA line. Johns Creek is about a 40-minute drive from downtown Atlanta, and about 45 minutes from Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.
Johns Creek is part of the large Fulton County School District. A total of 19 public schools serve the Johns Creek area, including 11 elementary, four middle and four high schools. Parents and community partners are heavily involved in local education efforts, and all three high schools in Johns Creek have been nationally ranked.
Johns Creek offers over 300 acres of parkland and five access points along the Chattahoochee River, providing residents with opportunities for hiking, kayaking, tubing, fishing, and other outdoor activities. Johns Creek locals can choose from the many restaurants and bars in the downtown district, and the community hosts a variety of events during the year, from outdoor markets and summer concerns to holiday tree-lighting festivals. The Johns Creek Arts Center, Johns Creek Symphony Orchestra, the Atlanta Athletic Club and the surrounding parks and golf courses also add to the many recreational activities here in Johns Creek.
