Vinings is nestled between I-285 and the Chattahoochee River, which affords residents some scenic banks to enjoy the outdoors. The community also maintains some lovely architecture. The Vinings Historic Preservation Society was set up in 1993 by the Ruth Carter Vanneman Foundation as a resource for residents and visitors on the historic buildings and origins of the city.

Vinings is a short drive to Atlanta and the Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport due to its location just outside the city. When the traffic is light, it is a quick commute via I-75. There is a MARTA bus route that stops at the Cumberland Mall for a public transportation option.

Vinings is part of the Cobb County School District. Residents in Vinings are zoned to Teasley Elementary School, Campbell Middle School and Campbell High School. Cobb County School District is the 4th largest in the state and 23rd largest in the nation. It is the largest employer in Cobb County. It consists of very qualified teachers and a substantial security staff. It has very strong, award-winning athletics and music programs.

Vinings is home to the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Theatre which welcomes big productions like touring Broadway shows, concerts and the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. There are great options for shopping including the Cumberland Mall and the Vinings Jubilee that have a mix of casual and high-end retailers. Its close proximity to the Chattahoochee River is a wonderful resource for enjoying nature and outdoor activities, like hiking, tubing, kayaking, canoeing and fishing.
