Homes

Grand Lake offers a variety of home designs to fit any buyer.

Where to Live

Grand Lake is the fortunate recipient of a major 30-year rehabilitation that has provided more housing choices, and as a result, the area has seen an increase in property values. Students and young professionals live in rental apartment buildings, rehabbed Victorians, and stand-alone residences. Families who buy a home can choose from new or rehabbed single-family homes. The neighborhood also has plenty of relatively new condominiums.

Where to Eat

This upscale neighborhood offers a great culinary scene. You can find bakeries, breakfast, or brunch restaurants along Lakeshore Avenue or Grand Avenue where you can savor fresh baked bread, homestyle breakfast platters, hearty sandwiches, and delicious coffee. The dining scene in Grand Lake is bustling with folks from all over eating enjoying a variety of cuisines such as traditional American, Italian, seafood, Pan Asian, and Mediterranean.

What You'll See

Grand Lake is a bustling neighborhood with people coming and going in every direction. Walking through the neighborhood, you'll see classic hamburger stands around the Lake Park area where people are grabbing a bite-on-the-go. You'll also see a lot of tree-lined streets and boulevards that give the area a serene and residential vibe. Stroll by the historic Grand Lake Theater, which is on the corner of Grand Avenue. It was built in 1926 and retains its art-deco origins and is popular for displaying its progressive political marquee messages.

Friday Night Fun

Locals have plenty to do on a Friday night in Grand Lake. Begin your evening with a gourmet pizza from a restaurant on Grand Avenue. Although it offers great pizza, you can also order from a variety of other delicious menu items if pizza is not your thing. Then head out for a movie at the fabulous Grand Lake Theater on Grand Avenue. On Friday and Saturday nights, there is an organ recital before the movie on the original Wurlitzer organ that was installed when the theater was first built. The theater is a consistent winner of Best Movie Theater in the San Francisco Bay Area. Top your evening off with drinks and music at one of the many bars along Grand Avenue or Lake Park Avenue. You may even stumble upon one of the few piano bars in the area that offers great music and a lively crowd.

The Perfect Sunday

Grand Lake is filled with residential homes with families and children. A perfect Sunday for a young family may include breakfast at one of the many savory restaurants that serve a hearty weekend brunch. Kids will love going to Children's Fairyland, an amusement park on Bellevue Avenue. Finish the day with a leisurely stroll around the lakefront for breathtaking views of the area.
