The neighborhood is anchored by Grant Hill Park, centrally located on J Street. The residential areas along 25th and 28th streets are known for their neighborly, quiet lifestyle. Some of the historic homes run along these streets. Generally speaking, 30th Street is commercial, although some older homes and condominium buildings are mixed in.

Where to Eat

Some of the best restaurants are located within a five-minute drive from Grant Hill, although the neighborhood itself has a wide selection of local eateries. The area is also known for its excellent street fare with vendors offering everything from tamales to hot dogs. Grant Hill also has a few South American restaurants along Imperial Avenue. If you are seeking a wider variety, the Gaslamp District and downtown are just a short drive or walk away.

Grant Hill Park sponsors many concerts in the park during the summer, and the weather is always pleasant since the neighborhood is so close to the bay.

The perfect Sunday could range from having an espresso drink and reading the paper to taking your dog for a walk in the park. Or you could head over to Petco Park to watch the San Diego Padres play baseball. During the off season, Petco Park hosts a variety of events that celebrate the city and its military presence.
