Woah awesome
We truly love it here! Our family moved in about 2 years ago, duplex high-rise unit with amazing views of the lake and city skyline. Location is pretty awesome because right outside are express buses to downtown (Michigan Avenue) and Granville Tower is about 2 blocks east of the CTA red-line.
In 2018 they've announced two large capital projects to enhance the building: revamping the pool area & exterior parking garage, all paid with cash. No special assessments.
Heat stopped working in the middle of winter
I lived at Granville Towers for 1.5 years while I was getting my undergraduate degree at Loyola. The door staff and maintenance workers here are very kind and friendly, but the property manager here (Marla) is the definition of a power trip.
I've lived in two other high-rise buildings in Chicago (one also on Sheridan Road) and another in the Gold Coast. The property managers there have both been absolute angels in comparison to Marla. (Most residents in the building will agree that she unnecessarily makes living at Granville Towers difficult.. just chat with them in the elevators).
Other than the property manager here, the units are spacious for the price you pay (as with other buildings that's further from downtown). No gym, but there is a pool open during the summer (it's not very private though). In January 2017, The heat stopped working FOR THE ENTIRE BUILDING for over two weeks. Repairs took over a month to complete.
In terms of fees, move-in and move-out are $300 and $400 respectively. The building is a bit outdated for the fees (for context, my Gold Coast condo is 5x newer/nicer for the same fees).
There is one star because the maintenance and staff here were kind.
