The biggest factor for the higher cost of living is the housing market, with a median home cost greater than the state average. Also, as a coveted suburb close to Chicago that offers great amenities for every age group, this contributes to the cost of living. But compared to its surrounding neighborhoods, such as Elmhurst, Glendale Heights is actually a much cheaper and more livable community.
