My schools are hill crest and oakland they are awesome schools the teachers and staff are caring and prepare the children we'll to move on to the next class. The teachers and staff have been so helpful with suggesting and getting my son through the process of a learning disability. It has been a great experience.

I have been very pleased with Oakland. Despite the previously mentioned high taxes, which you find throughout Lake County and northern IL, this school district offers a wide array of differentiated learning. My son was able to complete two years of advanced math in one year while in fifth grade. he is now taking Freshman math as a 7th grader at AUGS. My younger son has also gotten the reading help he needs and this is one of the few school districts that still offers PE every day - awesome! As for Lakes High School, it received an award for having one of the highest ACT scores per/ class last year. You are going to find high taxes everywhere nowadays, but this is one of the best school districts in this area by far.

I am sad to say we are moving and short selling our home due to the fact that we just can't stay in this school district any longer. So many people in our neighborhoods are doing the same, and at a exhorbitant loss of money in order to get our children a better education experience. Oakland Elementary has no air conditioning, is broken down, does not hire the best teachers due to the conditions they are forced to teach in. We have been paying 15K per year in property taxes for a 400K home which is absolutely insane and my child comes home with headaches from being in a hot class all day. The administrators of course, do have A/C. They allowed for an abusive teacher to come back from leave without following up with her and her behavior continues to remain unstable. The high school is a newer facility, has a great principal, and has 2 high schools in 1 district. Get this...they had 2 superintendents for 2 high schools!!! That's it! One superintendent for each high school!! That was called out and is going to stop this year. Can someone say where are the exhorbitant taxes going? Not where they should here... People need to voice their opinions for change or else nothing will.
