Thank God we moved out of Morris. If you are not a native of Morris, a diehard football fanatic Or in a particular group or click, you are not accepted or wanted. Football is all they care about. My son was not in football, was largely ignored by the populous and grades showed he had a problem. Did they care, nope. We moved and I have to tell you that his grades scored and interest and personality. Because of his grades after we left Morris, he got a scholarship to college. It’s the town. If you are not a native or a jock on the football team, you are not welcome or worth their notice. Some teachers are good. No opportunity to stretch your mind. So glad our kids no longer attend. Best move we ever made.

Besides the fact the school itself is older than about 90% of the teachers, there is a homey feel to it at some times, but that's about where it stops. There are "rednecks" that think it's cool to display the Confederate flag, so called "juggalos" & "goths", wannabe stoners, & then the stereotypical jocks & "All-American" kids. As a student, I can tell you that none of the teachers trust each other or the administration & no one gets along. The administration majorly plays favorites regarding a few teachers in particular & the sports they coach. The teachers themselves all act like they have the most important class you will ever take & have a blatant disregard towards the student & the 6 other classes they are taking (since the school board & administration thought it would be such a great idea to switch over from a 4-block schedule to a traditional, 7 period day). Not only is the staff lacking in personality & real teaching, the newest part of the school was built in the 1970's. There is still asbestos throughout the school & bugs/mice everywhere & even a CAT has been found in club storage areas on multiple occasions. If you are even considering moving to District 101, don't.

Led by caring, involved administrators with many smart, hard working teachers. The school environment seems safe. The school acknowledges some areas that need to improve and works at solutions. Solid communication from school to parent. Areas that could improve include more diverse offerings such as clubs/intramurals for students not involved in FOOTBALL or other traditional sports.

mchs is a school that makes sports the biggest thing in a childs high school career. if your child is not a part of sports, they may be shunned and looked down on. if your child is in the bottom .25%, they will also be shunned...my son was told by a very important coach, and i quote "why dont you just drop out and save the taxpayers money" !! inappropriate and ignorant is all i can say
