Carl Sandburg High School

This high school is fabulous. I was concerned because the school is literally huge with so many wings in the buildings along with the size of the student body. But the students are given individualized attention and time to meet one-on-one with teachers. Strong emphasis working in groups in most classes is a plus. There is also a wide selection of classes and extracurriculars from which to choose each semester. Parent /Teacher conferences have been generally productive and provide an opportunity for 2-way feedback. The principal and faculty seem to really care about the students and providing an outstanding education.

Sandburg is an amazing school. There are so many opportunities available for children at this institution (i.e. athletics, activities, etc). My children received a top-notch education and were fully prepared for college.

To be fair, I am an alumni. However my experience was very positive. I still remember my literature, chemistry, physics and history teachers very well because of their dedication not just to subject matters but to their students individually. High School can be a difficult social experience, but it was because of those teachers that I overcame that and I learned to excel in my studies there and became an Illinois State Scholar. Great athletic and AP programs!

Carl Sandburg High School is a large south suburban high school in Orland Park,IL. The academic curriculum has many AP and honors options , along with gen ed. Advancing thru the program our 5 children were well prepared for college search. A number of CSHS students are accepted to the U of I engineering and business programs . Also Sandburg and d230 as a whole has strong representation at the top 10 universities nationally. Something for all as far as new Performing Arts Center, great Band program, excellent athletic training facilities and fields.
