Theres a new principal at the school this year (2015-2016). He has changed a lot of things around the school. He really cares about his students. He cares so much that if any one is having problems at home or at school, he would be at the school at 6:00 a.m. in his office waiting for them to talk about their problems. He gets on a chair and gets a microphone and speaks with all of the students every morning, he gives us life lessons. With all the things he's done, he has managed to cut off all fights and minimize tardies by 85%. Since the students have stopped all fight and minimize tardies, he liked the idea of celebrating, so he came up with something called T-up Friday's. Every Friday a DJ would come to the cafeteria and all the students would T-up during their lunch period. But it's not all about partying, he also encourages students to focus in school and prepare for tests. This school is the best. If it keeps going the way it is, in 4 years it will be the number 1 public school in Illinois.

I am a former student at rich south high school. This school is not that bad as everybody else says it is. The Education is great the staff are awesome and everybody in the school are friendly. Sure this school might have its ups and down ,but that's how basically all high schools are, but I'm not trying to say that are school is bad but it's amazing. The education is just right and all my teachers are friendly they are a little strict but that's how it is in the real world.

I am the parent of a junior student. The school is not perfect, but it is good. The school's small size may be its greatest benefit. This makes joining clubs and sport teams much easier. For most sports you just have to show up and don't have to stress about "making the team". There are many Advanced Placement classes available. The district has an excellent summer school program. The district does need to get a little better at public relations and customer service. Academically, a student can get as good an education here as at any school in the United States if they are focused and classes and teachers are chosen well. Overall, I have found the school to be a good one and expect another child to be enrolling later.

This school is horrible because the board is horrible. The school board is comprised of an egomaniac board president who is not in touch with the community or the school I love my home, but I hate that it feeds into this pathetic excuse for a school. It is a sad day when you actually hope the state comes in and shuts the school down. Southland Prep is not an option or an alternative, because it is just as pathetic as Rich South. DO NOT move here if you want a halfway decent education for your child, because you WILL NOT get it here!
