I give this school three stars overall and don't recommend moving to the area just for the school. It's definitely overrated.

My child goes to LL by exception. She started there in preschool and after kindergarten she was going to be moved to our home school. We fought to keep her at LL because of the teachers, staff, PTA and families. The staffs acceptance and support of those with learning differences goes above and beyond. They really go the extra mile. We are a very activity in our child's education and I think that makes a huge difference when you work as a team. When I drop off my child I am thankful that I am leaving her in good hands with people that really know her. To hear the teachers greet the children with we are so glad to see you and a smile on their faces makes me appreciate them even more. The staff know all the children and the administrative staff (P and VP) are in the halls with them.

My second kid just finished in LL. I grew up in Europe so I was a bit apprehensive about the education in the US (which in the rest of the world is considered lacking). But I must say that my kids got a much better elementary education than I did. Most of the teachers were quite enthusiastic and supportive, and kids had fun and enjoyed many of the activities in school. The PTA was fantastic and I'm sorry I wasn't able to contribute more time to their work. It's hard to say how much of all this was the state, how much was the county, and how much the school -- but overall I'm very happy my kids went to the Lutherville Lab.
