Macdonald Middle School

I think the school as a whole has been great for my child. The address situations quickly and communicate with parents in a timely manner. All the teachers in the 7th and 8th grade, except the 8th-grade math teacher, have been awesome with communicating homework, they are encouraging, and seem to genuinely care about the students. The office staff are friendly and very effective in their role. I rate them an 7 out of 10.

I've had a great experience. Teachers seem engaged, office staff is helpful the principal makes time to meet when there are issues.

Sadly, like the others, I feel that the school has gone downhill in recent years. I put my daughter in this district because I thought it would be good academically and less bullying than in Lansing. Sadly, that is not the case. The kids talk about the schools of choice kids doing a lot of the bullying, I don't know if that is true or not, but I know it's getting worse and worse and no one is doing much about it. Academically, overall they are good, but there are some teachers that barely teach, and to maintain my daughter's excellent grades, I have had to spend most of the night teaching things that should have been taught in class. Not going back to this district, even though I went here myself, as well as another child a few years ago.
