Ferndale Lower Elementary Campus

The feeling of community we’ve experienced as part of Ferndale Schools has been incredible. Parental involvement is very high, and school involvement in community events only strengthens the bond. I’m thrilled with every aspect of my kids’ education at Ferndale Lower.

I would highly recommend Ferndale Public schools to anyone I know. And I looked around at all the local schools before settling into Ferndale.

I have one child at this school right now and I have appreciated the incredible dedication this school has to its students. I think like many other schools in the area, there is a concern around teaching staff being more diverse. I think there are lots of parents who are naturally more involved but I think more needs to be done to engage families that are not raising their hand to get involved. I think more needs to be done to assess family needs and how those are impacting behaviors displayed at school. I do commend the school for its really good social emotional work and also for trying to grapple with having such a diverse set of students in terms of financial status and race. I do think there is a huge need for more paraprofessionals so that classroom teachers are able to focus more on teaching rather than behavior management. I know the reading intervention my kid had worked well and he is now in the average range. The principal is very involved and engaged. There are great family centered events that the school puts on each year. We love the lego club too!
