Both of my children have had wonderful experiences here. Due to the size students have a lot of opportunities to participate and take on leadership roles in the many sports and clubs offered.

Grosse Ile High School is perceived to be a good school but it is easy to see huge shortcomings. Students are allowed to take tests over and over until a good grade is received. Following up on alumni who are in college reveals that they were vastly unprepared for college and their GPAs show it. The principals, teachers and coaches all have their favorites and everything seems pre ordained -- you are either a 'chosen one' or not. The current superintendent was chosen by an unprepared group of patents calling themselves the school board and he came from Potterersville -- where only 65% of the kids in the district went on to college -- certainly there had to be better choices. I am very disappointed but there is hope -- there is a great amount room for improvement in the future.

Have had two kids in the district for three years and each year it has steadily gotten worse. By the looks of things it appears their attempting to enroll as many kids as possible to get more money. By doing so kids are stuck in over crowded classrooms with new teachers. The elementry school has converted closets into special classrooms. The superattendant tries to keep kids n the young 5s program when its uncalled for except when trying to get more money for the district. Instead of the district trying to create a more efficient leaner learning environment they are spending like crazy and its only a matter of time before the district is 100% soc and goes broke. Your better off moving to one of the surrounding cities which has jus as good if not better test scores and pay lower taxes.
