Parke Lane Elementary School

Very good education but they don't always deal with conflicts between students.

We moved to Grosse Ile from the other side of metro Detroit, primarily for the school performance. After our daughter has been in the school system for young fives and kindergarten, we are very happy with our choice.

I have been so disappointed with this school. We moved here from an amazing school district, and purposely picked GI schools bc we had heard great things. However; I have 2 boys in this school, and both of their classes are equally less than par. My boys are not challenged, there is minimal homework, and I specifically remember at orientation when my son's teacher told us to make sure our kids had a max reading time of 10 min a day! Our previous school encouraged our kids to have no less than 30 min a day of reading time. I actually print off extra work sheets to give to my boys once they finish their 5 min of homework from their teachers. In my opinion there is nothing exceptional that stands out about this school...It is very average and complacent with mediocracy.

Parent involvement is very strong in this entire school district. This is a good thing (can't belive someone would complain about that). Not one teacher is the same just because you don't like one teacher you can't hudge the whole school. The old and new principal both did/do a good job. My children have both had good and bad experences but that is life. I feel that this school and district is a great choice for anyone wanting there kids to get great education. I can't wait for my youngest to start school and watch her grow.
