Mayfield Elementary is not what it use to be since I attended...The kids were told last year to bring in books for open reading day and without my knowledge, my daughter brought her bible to school along with her other books. A former female principal was walking from class to class snapping pictures and told my daughter to put the bible away and not bring it back. My daughter didn't understand why and no explanation was given to her. Later that night my family attended the football award ceremony in the gymnasium. Upon getting our plates for the potluck after the awards were given we as a whole were told to bow our heads in prayer for the team......................................... I'm confused...... Is God allowed in this school"COUNTRY SCHOOL" only ON CALL?????? My family practices full-time Christianity, not part-time. Thank you Mayfield...... Thank you for confusing my daughter and showing my family that we belong elsewhere.

Matt Wandrie the superindentant of Lapeer community schools is in the process of distroying our schools here! He wants to create a Mega High school of 2200 kids. This is with "NO" bond issue to improve facilities. Overcrowding in the East HS with 10-12 which may entale adding temperarly, some portables and is planning on putting the 9th graders with our 6-8graders at the middle schools. He and his central office team are NOT stake holders here. He himself, lives in Lake Orion, a "large district", and then school of choices his 3 kids to a smaller school. Our board members are like a flock of sheep. Most of our teachers here do not like this and feel there is a informal hush order, their jobs are at stake. As for the kids involved, they do not want either. The community spoke, helping set in place just a few years ago a Long term master plan that included 2 high school. People need to speak their minds before it is to late! This young and very impatient superindant will be gone as soon the chaos and or another opportunities occurs. This is his 4th school district he has worked for in 10 years and he is only in his mid 30s. People, please demand better from your school board.

My children have attended Mayfield School for four years now. They have received an exceptional educational experience so far. The staff works collaboratively which brings the best ideas each teacher has to offer to the entire grade level. The principle is caring and involved. The Dead of Students is diplomatic and consistent. We could not be happier. The building itself could use some TLC, but the quality of education my children are receiving more than makes up for the building s condition.
