Overcrowding at the new Lapeer High is just terrible, the AP director is not a people person. The overall consolidation was a disaster. The young and inexperienced super. pushed this change way to fast and then started interviewing for new position before even completed, just as many people predicted. The board is just out of touch with what is best for our children. Bigger is not better!

There is a lot of bullying in this school, but there is in every school. The people in charge really don't do anything except give the kids a "slap on the hand" and a stern don't do it again and send them on their way.

I attended North Branch Area Schools for my whole life until my senior year when my sister and I moved to Warren. Before we moved i thought that NBHS was not the best because of the slight favoritism they show towards volleyball players, but after attending Cousino High School where if you are a football player or cheerleader you are practically a god. As far as teachers go, the teachers at NBHS were respectful and involved in education (there are always exceptions). The asistant principle, Mr. Sherman, has a bad case of little man's syndrome and seems to be out to make any student that does any little thing wrong punished to the full. This does seem help to keep the distractions of attention thirsty students to a minimum. The head principle Mr. Hiltunen is very kind and inturested in students well-being. Somehow he knows just about everyone's name. He knew mine and i had never been in trouble or done anything else to stand out. Overall, i loved the amout of respect between students and staff, must be the small town hospitality, and NBHS prepared me very well for the ACT with practise for it almost every day. I loved this school so much and hope it stays great for my children.
