Helping relatives with the construction of the new home at Montebello. Interesting experience to say the least. The higher up managers are condescending and they do not value the customers (although their rhetoric says that they do). Rather, they are more interested in their deadlines, glossing over issues (so as not to fall behind in construction calendar), and actually yelling at customers. After making changes that were necessitated by their mistakes and omissions, they are more interested in telling us how much they have DONE for us. What they overlook is how the obstacles to a smooth process were generated by THEIR deficiencies, not by outrageous demands of the customer (the latter being what the management's behavior implies). Framing had many substandard studs (bowed outside of standard acceptable tolerances, installed out of plumb and out of square, split lumber). Rather than being openly interested when these defects were identified (at an early stage), they were annoyed, To be fair, they did, after some time, reluctantly address some of the easy issues. As they moved forward with the construction, the simple fixes (like replacing defective studs) became too involved them to now address (electrical and dry wall already in place). Management was actually yelling at us as we calmly pointed out the remaining issues. I have never seen anything like it! We are the customer. How about calmly asking what items are troubling, and calmly addressing them? After this process, we deserved an apology and "I'll take care of it" rather than an argument and a scolding about our demands on the half million dollar house.
I hope it gets resolved eventually, but new buyers beware!

Having a house built in Montebello. construction supervision is very lacking. Lots of small problems that r turning into big problems.
Montebello has the WOW factor! The unique design really sets it apart from any other 55 community we looked at and ultimately, it's what made me really want to live here. We both use the clubhouse every single day and are very active in the community. The rural area out here is beautiful and I don't mind at all driving a few extra minutes to shops and such. It's worth the drive to live here!
